Scribble Coven Creative Retreat: Season 2

Welcome to the Coven

Think foliage, cosy crafts, time to be creative on your own terms… all paired with an unreasonable amount of knitwear: it’s our tested Creative Retreat - supercharged for Autumn.

❋ We've done this before

We ran this retreat in April, and it was pure magic. Now, we are headed back to our favourite historic stone villa nestled between the dramatic Italian mountains and the Ligurian sea.

❋ It's open to everybody

You do not have to be a professional visual artist to join us. Our past guests have been photographers, musicians, writers, or simply folks who wanted to escape the noise, enjoy the peace of this amazing corner of the world, and read a great book in good company.

❋ With expert facilitation

Hosted by Memo (@art_bymemo), an Italian artist who’s made it her special interest to find challenging ways to unlock the participants’ creativity.

❋ In a supportive community

The people who join this space know what it means to be shy, trepidatious about your own work and worried you may not be enough. You are. We’re all here for each other.

What's Included in Your Stay

We believe in making this experience as stress-free and supportive as possible. Your base ticket includes everything you need for a restorative week:

7 Nights’ Accommodation: Historic, authentic stone villa with mountain and garden views.

Chef-Prepared Meals: Daily cooked breakfasts and sit-down dinners prepared by Rob, our brilliant private chef.

Pantry Lunches: A fully stocked pantry for casual, DIY mid-day grazing.

All-Day Refreshments: Premium tea and coffee on tap all week long.

Daily Drawing Workshops: Morning sessions with Memo focused on unblocking creativity and playing with fresh techniques (open to all skill levels!).

Art Sharing Moments: Curated, low-pressure evening circles to share what we’re working on and inspire one another.

Outings and Exploring: We’re spoiled for choice between rustic old towns and the beachfront.

Base Van Transport: Group airport transfers and basic travel logistics to our scheduled excursions are built right in.

The Coven Goodie Bag: Packed with hand-picked art supplies and activities for the week.

A vintage white bicycle decorated with pink and purple roses leaning against a rustic stone wall. The bicycle has a basket with a potted plant and a pink paper in the back. There is a wooden table made from a barrel in front of the bicycle and green plants nearby.
People sitting outdoors, reading and writing, with lush green hills and buildings in the background.
Two women are fencing with swords in an outdoor setting with old stone buildings and mountains in the background. One woman is wearing a denim jacket, black shorts, and sandals, while the other is wearing glasses, a checkered shirt, and black pants. They are smiling and appear to be having fun during a playful fencing match.
People making pizza together in a rustic kitchen, spreading dough and adding toppings like cheese, vegetables, and sauce.
Aerial view of an old hillside village with stone buildings, some with red-tiled roofs, a church with a bell tower, and lush greenery around.

This October, we are introducing a beautifully structured flow to our days, giving you the perfect balance of collaborative structure and personal freedom.

Daily Rhythm & Creative Highlights
❋ Daily Morning Drawing Workshops

Every morning, we gather for a dedicated creativity session. These aren't rigid technical lectures; they are interactive, playful exercises designed to break through creative blocks, quiet your inner critic, and build confidence in your marks, no matter your starting point.

❋ The Craft Corners

Set up around the villa throughout the week, you can dip your toes into various creative disciplines at your own pace:

  • Hand-poke tattoo sharing and design

  • Custom bracelet making

  • Knitting and crocheting corners

❋ The Terrace Mural Project

Our signature big achievement for the week! We will be collectively designing, prepping, and painting a massive visual art piece right on the villa’s terrace walls. Everyone who wishes to leave a permanent artistic legacy on the villa is invited to pick up a brush.

❋ Photography Outings

With the foliage in all its red and golden glory, what better time to learn a few more photography tricks? Our resident photographer, Laura, has a new plan - and you need zero experience to jump on it.

❋ Inspiring Ligurian Outings

Our group van will take us out into the rugged beauty of Liguria for dedicated excursions that double as prime artistic inspiration, like Bussana Vecchia, Triora and Valloria. You can also enjoy a hike in peace or in a group to a nearby waterfall or explore the villages up the mountain.

❋ Communal Evenings

Nothing scripted, but between cooking, pizza workshops, chatting and impromptu karaoke sessions, we will have a good time.

(It’s also fine if you want to have a quiet evening in your room!)

A woman with dark hair in a ponytail, wearing glasses and a gray shirt, is carrying a baby in a front-facing baby carrier outdoors. She is standing near a table with children and other objects, with a blurred background of greenery and stone structures.

The Coven Honor Bar

  • Local Italian Wines: €3 per glass

  • Mixers & Spirits: €4 per drink

  • Beers & Non-Alcoholic Aperitifs: €2 per bottle

Van Fuel & Tolls

While the base van rental cost is fully covered by the retreat, final fuel costs and autostrada highway tolls will be calculated at the end of the week and split transparently based on your individual excursion usage.

* Average cost from our April retreat was 20-45€ per guest

Nanny Service

Should you need it, our trusted nanny, Luna, is available to take care of your offspring, to make this experience enjoyable for all. The cost will be split among the families with children - for reference, it came to €200 per family in our last Retreat.

What our April Covenlings have said

(We also took note of all the lessons and feedback we learned from our previous experience to make this one even better!)

“What [also] worked really well for me was the 'one day stay in, next day go out' alternation. I feel like I got a good balance of hanging around the house and relax, and going out for sightseeing and be active.”

— about the flow of the day and activities

“I had an amazing experience and look very forward to the next edition - grazie mille <3”

— about the overall experience

“Really appreciated the time and lots of space to be in my own little corner and play music without disturbing folks, especially on sunny days. And folks being nice about the music 😅”

— about the highlights of the week

* Images may not be updated to the latest changes made by the owners of the villa (ie, slightly different room furniture or layout)
