The Artist Algorithm
A 6-week Live Masterclass
for Artists Who Are Sick of Social Media Feeling Like a Second Job
Every social media tool out there is promising AI will build your strategy and land you thousands of followers. This isn't that.
Learn how to actually get your art seen and shared using your beautiful brain.
“ Why does this even matter in 2026?”
People have been calling social media a bubble about to burst since forever, and it still hasn't. At this point, I'm fairly convinced it never fully will - it'll just keep morphing into whatever comes next. But the skills you need to not get eaten by it stay roughly the same:
✦ A curious eye and the ability to spot a trend before it's dead
✦ Knowing what to automate and what actually needs you
✦ A voice and brand identity that stays cohesive no matter what the algorithm's doing this week
✦ Enough distance to stop mistaking "validation online" for "validation of you as a person"
This course is about building that presence without it eating your brain.
What it actually is
This isn't a pre-recorded course you buy with good intentions and never open (be honest, you've done this).
It's a live 6-week course, capped at 15 people, so it stays a small group and not a webinar you scroll through on mute
You get:
✦ Weekly 90-minute live sessions
✦ Weekly worksheets, with actual feedback on your actual homework
✦ A 45-minute 1:1 assessment of your profile or strategy at the end
✦ The templates that helped me secure brand sponsorships and cool opportunities
✦ Every session is recorded, so a missed week doesn't mean a missed week
Why Live?
Full disclosure: I built a pre-recorded version of this first. I wrote the whole curriculum, and I even started filming it. Then I looked at it and thought: nah.
There are a thousand pre-recorded social media courses out there already. I can see the completion stats on my own: people buy with the best intentions, and so few actually finish. It doesn't cost me anything when that happens, but I don't want it for you.
So I scrapped it. A live course with max 15 people means:
✦ Every question gets answered, not just the three that get picked out of a 500-person chat
✦ Feedback is on your actual work, not generic advice that could apply to anyone
✦ There's no tab to open "later" and never open
It's more work for me. It's more useful for you. That's the trade.
How it Works
Starting 14th September 2026, we meet once a week, in the evening CET (morning/early afternoon for EST and PST). Once you've signed up, you'll get access to a private Discord (the Scribble Coven) where we'll lock in the exact day that works for the group.
Each session runs for 90 minutes: roughly 60 minutes of lecture with real examples and live demos, a short break, then 25 minutes of Q&A: with only 15 people in the room, everyone actually gets heard.
Each week comes with a short worksheet to put the lesson into practice: hand it in the day before class, and I'll give you feedback live, in the next session.

Memo
(Maria Lia Malandrino)
I've been chronically online since 2017, when I joined MerMay and started posting daily. I got to 5K followers in two months, which, to be clear, does not happen any more. I've worked across animation, gaming, kidlit, conventions, basically every corner of the illustration world there is.
But in 2024, I actually started losing followers, dropped below 100K, and it was about as fun as it sounds. So after a good chunk of time spent wallowing and avoiding opening Instagram, I decided to do something about it. I stopped posting fan art and started drawing comics about my real life as a new mum and barely functioning adult instead. My Forgotten Women in History series has since pulled in millions of views and shares, and the brand deals that came out of it genuinely helped fund my maternity leave last year.
I've been teaching online since 2018. The thing students say most often is that I have a knack for making things click. I'm also annoyingly committed to making sure people feel like their money is well spent: bad news for my evenings, great news for you.

Visual Artists ✦ Artisans ✦ Potters ✦ Knitters ✦ Designers ✦ DIY Enthusiasts ✦ Sculptors ✦
Who this is for:
✦ Any kind of artist or artisan trying to improve their social media presence
✦ Stuck at a low follower count and don't know why
✦ Tried everything, nothing's worked
✦ Haven't tried anything because the whole thing feels overwhelming
✦ New to social media, no idea where to start
✦ Been active elsewhere but can't crack Instagram specifically
✦ Your account is fine, but it's eating your life
✦ Burnt out and disheartened by the whole practice
✦ You don't want to hand your social strategy over to AI
This isn't for you if:
✦ You want a course covering every platform (TikTok, YouTube, Substack, etc.): this is Instagram-focused, because trying to cover everything means covering nothing well
✦ You want to learn filming/video technique specifically (I actually have a separate course for that here)
✦ You expect to go viral overnight: not happening, even with a great strategy
One more thing!
Success means different things to different people. Selling traditional pieces through your own shop? Then you don't need 2M followers, you need a smaller, engaged audience who'll actually buy. Selling design or illustration services? Then it's about reaching potential clients while building a reputation among your peers. There's no universal goal here: the course adapts to what you're actually trying to get out of it.
Student Feedback:
“I am an Instagram idiot so this was incredibly helpful, thank you!”
— Kay Reindl“I like the algorithm section, you just get the feeling when someone is genuine, and that they have not simply copied their advice from other people. That was my feeling anyway.”
— Steve Raynor“I have taken a lot of classes on this subject, and this is the best of them.”
— Angel-Airshe I.Pricing
Both plans get you full access to the Live course, Lifetime access to the recorded sessions after they’ve happened, Weekly Q&A, the final 1:1 session and all the downloadable resources. The only difference is that you can pay either in full or in two instalments.
Quick maths before you look at the price: a single reel-and-story set for the right brand goes for anywhere from €600 to several thousand euros - and that's before commissions or merch sales start moving too.
(Yes, we'll cover exactly how to land those deals in week 6.)
One sponsorship covers this course. Everything after that is profit.

Lifetime access to every session after it happens (each class is recorded, so a missed week doesn't mean a missed week)

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺
-
Nope. The frameworks work whether you’re starting from zero or stuck at 5k/10k followers. In fact, they’re designed for artists who feel invisible and want to grow.
-
I’ll give you different schedules depending on your availability:
✦ 10 minutes a day → consistent but light posting
✦ 30 minutes a day → solid growth plan
✦ 1 hour a day → maximum results without burning out -
You don’t need to be a “Master Artist” to grow. I’ll show you how to package your art so it’s shareable — even if your style is still evolving.
-
It’s Live, which means that we’ll have an online live meeting on Zoom every week.
I will record each session as it happens so you can rewatch it as many times as you want and have access to it forever.

Nope. This is specifically for artists. We’ll talk about the 5 Archetypes of Art Accounts, my Angle Finder Framework, and how to design carousels that have reached half a million people — strategies you won’t find in generic “Instagram guru” courses.
-
Yes. This is about making social media work for your style of narration, not forcing you into a format that doesn't fit.
-
Two options: sign up and treat it as a pre-recorded course (I'll upload each session after it's recorded), or join the newsletter and I'll let you know when the next sprint opens.

If you just want to post for fun and don’t care about reach, you don’t need this. But if you want your art to actually get seen — whether for validation, community, or career growth — then yes, it’s for you.
